When the hand pump on a water well breaks down in Africa or Haiti, safe water stops flowing and people are forced to drink from slow-moving rivers or stagnant ponds. This often results in diarrheal diseases that are either deadly or so harmful they stop children from going to school and parents from earning a living for their families.
Often, only a few replacement parts and an hour or two of repair work will get the broken pump working again -- and safe water flowing from the well.
You can pay part or all of the $125 cost of a typical pump repair. At Lifewater, we fix thousands of pumps every year -- on wells we drilled and, more often than not, on wells drilled by other organizations that are no longer available to provide ongoing maintenance and repair.
When you help people through Lifewater, you work with a charity that Charity Intelligence (which monitors more than 800 non-profit organizations) has ranked among its top 10 in Canada for SIX straight years for the impact achieved on behalf of donors. More than 90 cents of each dollar given to Lifewater goes directly to the people you want to help.
