I have seen God’s favor through this gift from Lifewater. - Kiviu Secondary School Principal Felister Mwende
Kiviu Secondary School is in Ikusya, in the Mwingi area of Kenya. The 10-year-old school’s principal, Felister Mwende, says the region is so dry that she used to spend about $100 CDN each month to buy water for her 85 students and their teachers. That was money she would much rather invest in educational resources. It was even worse when COVID-19 hit, Felister says. The school needed even more water to keep everyone as sanitized as possible. The school is still braving the pandemic but now that Lifewater Canada donors have provided a 10,000-litre tank, water can be harvested and stored during the rainy season for use during the dry season. Students and staff can freely drink and wash their hands without costing the school extra money. “I have seen God’s favor through this gift from Lifewater,” Felister says.
