A message from the community

We sent our sincere appreciation to your organization for the successful completion of the toilet project. You embarked on this project as a selfless contribution to humanity for the church and entire community. This kind gesture shall never be erased from our memory.

  • Sabi Ishata, ECWA Church Secretary, Sherekpe

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Many people in Sherekpe and other communities do not have access to running water and toilets, so they resort to open defecation. This creates very unsanitary conditions for everyone. Many households have lost family members to preventable diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

In Sherekpe, the only water sources were an overhead tank and some open hand-dug wells. Together, they did not provide enough water to serve the community; so access to water had to be tightly regulated.

Thanks to these donors, Lifewater provided a community toilet. Through the help of additional donors, we also rehabilitated a well that was not working, and drilled a new well. The inhabitants of Sherepke are excited and grateful for the kind intervention by Lifewater.

Every $1 you give provides a child with safe water for a year!
