On behalf of the students at Muthuka Secondary School, I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for funding our water storage tank. We are very grateful. -- Samson Kitari, Student School Captain
Muthuka Secondary School in Mbuvu, Mwingi Central Constituency in Kenya's Kitui County, has 336 students. The school used to buy water at $1,346 CAD every term. This was very expensive, according to the school’s administration. Lifewater Canada donors provided the school with a rainwater catchment system recently that includes a 10,000-litre storage tank and handwashing station. The students are now drinking safe water and enjoying washing their hands regularly. Samson Kitari, a student and the school’s captain, says everyone is grateful for the blessing of the new storage tank and enjoying fresh water to drink. The money that is no longer needed to purchase water each month is being used to construct boarding facilities so students who live far away can be housed on-site rather than having to walk long distances to and from class each day.
