Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
Yarkade is a small community in Nigeria’s Nasarawa State, a few kilometres from the capital city of Abuja. In January 2022, Lifewater Canada drilled two new wells in Yarkade so women and children no longer needed to spend hours each day walking up and down a dangerous slope to gather water for their families from the river. At that time, we saw an obvious need to improve the community’s sanitation practices by installing a community toilet and hand-washing station. Our donors provided the support so we could return to Yarkade in February 2022 to install the toilet and hand-washing station. Now the entire community has the accessible water they need – and the sanitation facilities to ensure their water remains safe and drinkable. |
