Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Kawu is in Nigeria's Nasarawa State. The women in Kawu would wake up as early as 4:00 a.m. to fetch water from the river and not return until noon. During their travels, they were at risk of attack and assault. The men in the community would alternate between working on their farms and escorting their wives to the river to protect them. Thanks to our donors, Lifewater visited Kawu and rehabilitated the community's a broken-down well, including replacing its hand-powered pump, so safe and easily accessible water is available to everyone. Long and dangerous treks to the river are no longer necessary.
