Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

Gunduma Angwan Bisa is a predominantly Hausa Muslim community. Residents there no longer trusted outsiders after so many broken promises from the government and other organizations to fix their broken water well. Therefore, when Lifewater arrived, people weren't willing to cooperate with our team. They said they would rather continue with their shallow hand-dug well that never fails, even if the water from it isn't always safe. Eventually, locals reluctantly agreed to contribute sand and gravel for the protective concrete pad that would be part of our well rehabilitation project. This work would also include replacing the well's hand-powered pump. At the end of the rehabilitation, funded by Lifewater donors, we saw grateful smiles on the faces of Gunduma Angwan Bisa residents. The community thanked Lifewater Canada and prayed that we would continue to provide similar help in other communities. |
