Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

New Telecom Community is behind the Victory Chapel Church in Paynesville, in the Red Light area of Liberia's Montserrado County. The well that Lifewater drilled in 2004 has been the only source of safe drinking water in the entire community, and an especially vital resource during the dry season when people would otherwise walk long distances in search of water. Due to age and overuse, the cement pad and pump jackets around the well wore out several months ago. Soon afterward, the well's hand-powered pump also broke down. For almost seven months, residents were forced to go back to their old water sources, which included open hand-dug wells a long walk from their homes. Some children and adults experienced stomach pains and diarrhea after consuming this contaminated water. When the Lifewater team was called in, members conducted a complete rehabilitation of the well and changed all the faulty parts to the joy of everyone. The community is grateful to Lifewater for rehabilitating their well and restoring their health. |
