We, the Kyandii Primary School community, want to express our gratitude to Lifewater Canada donors for providing our school with a rainwater harvesting tank. We are happy to have enough water to drink and for handwashing. |

Project Summary |

Kyandii Primary School in Mwingi central constituency, in Kenya's Kitui County, has 196 students. Because there was no water source at the school, students were expected to bring their own drinking water each day. However, says deputy headteacher Hellen Munyoki, the time needed to gather that water each day kept many children out of class. Lifewater Canada donors recently provided a rainwater catchment system which includes a large 10,000-litre storage tank and handwashing station. Now, the school can gather and store water during the rainy season for use during the dry season. “Our students longer have an excuse for coming in late,” says Hellen, noting children now have all the water they need for a good day at school. |
