On behalf of our school, I want to thank Lifewater Canada for bringing a rainwater harvesting and storage tank to our school. We are so blessed by your support. -- Felister Kioko, Headteacher. Kathong’o Primary School |

Project Summary |

Kathon’go Primary School in Mwingi central constituency, in Kenya's Kitui County, has 56 students. The students who had some available would bring water from home each day for their own drinking and sanitation needs. But many students would come to class with nothing -- unable to drink or wash throughout the school day, says Headteacher Felister Kioko. Recently, Lifewater Canada donors provided a rainwater catchment system that includes a large 10,000-litre storage tank and handwashing station. Felister says although droughts continue to plague the community, enough water can be harvested and storage during the rain season to, when sparingly used, meeting students' needs during the drought and enable them to focus on their studies. |
