To Lifewater Canada donors: Just months ago, we didn’t think having a 10,000-litre rainwater harvesting and storage tank was a possibility for our school. Out of the blue, you brought one to us, including a handwashing station. I want you to know that you have given us so much hope. Thank you. -- Caroline Mwende, Kakulunga Primary School. |

Project Summary |

Kakulunga Primary School in Mwingi central constituency, in Kenya's Kitui County, has 65 students. The school is in one of the driest areas of the country and desperately needed to be able to harvest and store rainwater but had no capacity to do so. Recently, Lifewater Canada donors furnished the school with a rainwater catchment system which includes a 10,000-litre storage tank and handwashing station. Now the students and staff can gather and store water during the rainy season to get them through the dry season. Caroline Mwende, a teacher at the school, says being able to drink and wash at school is a wonderful new experience for the children. |
