A message from the community |
Haske Baptist Church in Angwan Mayo appreciates Lifewater for the construction of a toilet in our community. Thank you. May the Lord almighty reward you. -- Church Secretary |
Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
The lack of adequate toilet facilities at Haske Baptist Church in Angwan Mayo posed many grave health challenges for the congregation and surrounding community. People were forced to defecate outdoors. When the rainy season arrived and flooding occurred, many children and adults contracted potentially deadly waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid. The World Health Organization estimates that for every dollar invested in sanitation in the developing world, households save $4 in avoided medical costs from diarrhea and other waterborne illnesses, plus reduced mortality and enhanced labor productivity. Therefore, Lifewater Canada is active in building community toilets in Africa and Haiti -- including in Angwan Mayo in Nigeria. Residents there thanked our donors for practically displaying the unconditional love of Christ. |
