A message from the community

We, the Tamu Primary School community, appreciate you for ensuring we have safe and clean water in the school and in our homes. Thank you for taking care of our health and well-being.

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

The 575 students and surrounding residents at Tamu Primary School in Kisumu County would get their water from the school's well. When the hand-powered pump on the well broke down recently, children and adults had to begin walking to and from the nearest river to meet their drinking and sanitation needs. The river water isn't safe, says teacher James Oreno, so there was widespread fear of diseases and infections. Thanks to Lifewater Canada donors, the hand pump has been repaired at Tamu Primary School so safe water is readily accessible again. Teachers and parents who were afraid for their students' and children's health are no longer fearful.
