Project Summary |

To meet the drinking and sanitation needs of its 600 students, Orongo Primary School in Kisumu County had a rainwater harvesting and storage system. However, there was never enough stored water to last through the dry season -- leaving student and teachers desperate for other water sources, even dirty ones that are dangerous to human health. "It is the only life we have known for a long time," says headteacher Milka Ombati. However, that changed after the school contacted Lifewater and asked for help. Thanks to our donors, we drilled a well that is providing enough safe and easily accessible water to meet everyone's needs. Now, come rain or sunshine, the students and staff of Orongo Primary School will always have water only a few steps from their classrooms. |
