Project Summary |
||||||||||||||||||
For four years, the hand-powered pump on Kolal's communal water well wasn't working. This left about 800 residents without a source of safe water, except for the small number of families that could afford to buy clean water from local vendors. Everyone else had to begin walking to and from small reservoirs -- gathering water that wasn't safe for human consumption, and that put many people at risk of contracting diarrheal diseases. Recently, thanks to our donors, Lifewater Canada rehabilitated Kolal's well, including complete replacing its broken pump. Residents have restored access to safe water. They no longer need to buy from vendors or drink from contaminated reservoirs. |
