Project Summary |
||||||||||||||||||
About 800 people in Kotieno community in Kisumu County depend on a local well for their daily supply of safe water. When the hand pump on that well failed almost two years ago, residents had no choice but to begin drinking from a nearby river -- knowing it was contaminated and would put everyone at risk of contracting waterborne diseases. People often reported bouts of energy-draining diarrhea and stomach aches. Recently, thanks to our donors, Lifewater rehabilitated the well, including complete replacement of its faulty hand pump. Grateful community members told us they are relieved to have safe water again. |
