The pumps on the three community wells in Tunga Hassan stopped working about 18 months ago. After that, women and children would walk to and from a distant river or wait for the water to recharge from a few hand-dug wells in the community. Many times, the wait for water took so long and was so frustrating that it resulted in people fighting and injuring each other. Also, because the river and hand-dug wells are uncovered, they became a source of disease for many children and adults.  

But recently, thanks to our donors, Lifewater visited the community and replaced the broken hand pumps. Tunga Hassan's wells are again producing safe and easily accessible water for everyone -- easing tensions and improving people's health.
