Children and adults in Tunga Gade Community had no safe water to drink after the hand pump on their local well failed. Everyone was forced to walk to and from distant sources, none of which were free from contamination.

"This water was dirty and far from our residences," recalls community spokesman Musa Abdullahi. "As a result of the distance and the quality of the water, most people fall sick with various illnesses. Also, residents were frequently involved in disputes due to the lack of water." 

Thanks to our donors, Lifewater visited the community recently and replaced the broken hand pump. Safe and easily accessible water is flowing from the well again. Musa said he everyone else Tunga Gade is grateful and happy for the intervention of Lifewater. Residents' well-being has improved dramatically.
