About 700 children and adults have begun regularly using this new well. Before it was drilled, through the generous support of Lifewater Canada donors, everyone had about a 25-minute each way to reach another village's pump. The three-times-a-day trips were tiring and used time that women needed for income-earning opportunities and children needed to be in school. Those who could afford it would also spend money buying bagged water for their drinking needs from expensive local vendors. The money families are saving, now that they have a new well, is being invested in more food for their children.
