Lifewater Canada is excited to launch a new local team in Liberia, referred to as "Team Rural," with a vision to bring safe water to the rural communities of northern Liberia. To drill wells in the difficult terrain and hard rock formations, a compact and agile rig is needed. Based on the blueprints from similar rigs Lifewater Canada has designed and built in Kenya and Nigeria, the proposed rig is a modified LS300T+ unit from Little Beaver and LoneStar Drills in Livingston, Texas. The unique design allows for new wells to be drilled in places once unreachable, invigorating regions previously forgotten, and transforming the lives of people in the local community and beyond.
The drilling rig is mounted to a four-wheel-drive Isuzu that also carries a 185-cfm compressor. It is a very compact package that can traverse difficult terrain that would be impassable for larger rigs. The new rig is capable of drilling through hard rock to a depth of 300 feet, which is ideal for our work because the hand pumps we utilize have a maximum lift of 300 feet.
